Grand Knights Report – June 2008
Brothers, the past two years has gone by so fast and I can not thank each of you enough for the support that you have shown to me. These past two years as your Grand Knight has shown me that this council is willing and able to do anything that we are challenged with. This past month was no different in what we can do as a council. We hosted a first degree and 5 new members and one re-instatement joined our council this past month, I would like to welcome Ray Horn, Orlando Anaya, Dennis Doyle, Mark Stoll, Lee Villarreal, and Vincent Geraghty to our council. The dedication of Joan’s Kitchen was Sunday 25 May, and the CDA and Knights combined to organize the reception, and it was great! The Wojciechowski Family was very pleased with the reception.

Grand Knight’s Report FY 2007-2008
Worthy State Deputy and Brother John:
On behalf of the Officers, Directors, Chairman, and Brothers from MSGR. Frank J. Howard, Council 6648, it is my pleasure to submit to you this report summarizing our actions for this fraternal year.
This past year has truly shown me the unity within our great Order. Our council has had a tremendous amount of work that needs to be accomplished, and it always seems like everyone is too busy. However, when the time comes to get the job done, the members show their unity and dedication, not only to the council, but to the order as well. In June, we received a phone call asking for help from the Craven Cherry Point Child Developmental Center. The health department told the center that they had to clean the grounds up for the safety of the kids. Several Knights and family members showed up to help, and we were done in a couple of hours, to the amazement of the staff at the center. This was due to the hard work of Knights and there families.
This fraternal year started of well and got better as the year progressed. We watched as the new Annunciation Catholic School was finished and dedicated. Our members were instrumental in organizing the move in to the new school, and helping with the dedication.
With the Havelock community being military based, our council has had several brothers deploy to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places unknown to us. With this being said, our council supplied the parish with a deployment kit, consisting of a rosary, scapular, and a prayer book for the Marines and Sailors to carry with them. These kits were blessed by Father Dan Oschwald during mass and presented those deploying.
Our annual parish Thanksgiving was held as the first major parish event in the new Parish Hall and what a success it was. This was a joint parish dinner and we had barely enough tables and chairs. Every family brought at least one side dish to share and and there was plenty to go around.
Than it was time for Havelock’s Annual Christmas Parade, and the city called upon the Knights to organize the parade participants again this year. This has been an annual event for our council for a few years now, and the city has shown their appreciation. We not only organized the 85 participants; we also provide 4th degree Knights in tuxedo to greet the VIPs as they arrived at the VIP viewing area. We also provided refreshments for the VIPs after the parade.
Now that the parish hall is operational, our council is hosting a parish breakfasts again, donuts and coffee, and dinners to the parishioners of Annunciation. This has brought families together in our parish and now our recruitment is going in the right direction since the people of the parish are seeing what we do as a council.
In addition to everything above, our council has continue to pass out prayer crosses to the Knights and family members who are ill, working with both parishes to ensure that nothing needs to be done, we are active as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Lectors, Commentators, Ushers, and whatever else the parishes need. We are very supportive of all the priests within our council, which we are blessed to have three very supportive priests in our council.
This past year has truly been an “Experience of a Lifetime” for me. As the Grand Knight of MSGR. Frank J. Howard Council, I can honestly say that there is nothing better than to be a Knight of Columbus in this Great State of North Carolina!
Fraternally Yours,
Charles L. Nebraski
